Location
The hotel is in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST), on the Kowloon side of Victoria Harbour. It's perfectly positioned for exploring both sides of Hong Kong. You’re one MTR stop from Hong Kong Island and two stops from Central. Heading north, you're three stops from Mong Kok.
TST itself is a destination—you're walking distance to the harbor, Avenue of Stars, and top spots like The Peninsula. The hotel is connected to K11 Art Mall, so you get quick access to shops, restaurants, and multiple MTR entrances—some of which are air-conditioned walkways, ideal in summer.
Arrival
We checked in quickly without issues. If you're coming from the airport, the Airport Express to Kowloon Station plus a short taxi ride or free shuttle makes it easy. Check-in is on Level 3 of the building, with bell staff at the ground floor if you have luggage. Service was efficient and friendly.
Elite Benefits
As a Hyatt Globalist, you get solid benefits here:
- Room upgrades: We stayed five nights in a suite using a Suite Upgrade Award (SUA), and also checked out a standard harbor view room.
- Regency Club access: Includes breakfast, afternoon snacks, and evening drinks with food. It’s a good lounge that can substitute for meals if needed.
- Late checkout: We had no issues getting a 4 p.m. checkout.

Room
Standard Room:
We had a harbor view room, but note that many views are partially blocked by surrounding buildings. You’re high up, so you still see some water, just not a full-on harbor panorama. The room had a decent-sized desk, universal plug, USB outlets, and solid Wi-Fi. The bed was medium-firm, around a 7 or 7.5 out of 10.
The bathroom had decent space and good water pressure in the shower. A new ordinance in Hong Kong means some single-use plastics now cost a small fee (e.g., toothbrushes), but basic amenities like bulk Pharmacopia products are still provided.
Suite:
The suite is spacious—around double the size of a standard room. It has a separate living room with a couch (not a pull-out), coffee/tea setup, mini-bar, and good views. The bedroom has a work table and a TV facing the bed. You can control the temperature separately in each room.
The bathroom has a large egg-shaped tub with a view, rain shower, and more Pharmacopia products. You also get yukata-style pajamas. One note: the shower threshold is high, so be careful not to stub your toe.
Property
The hotel occupies part of a multi-use high-rise, but it still feels like a full-service Hyatt. Key features include:
- 24/7 gym: Surprisingly large for a city hotel, with Technogym equipment and free weights. It was usually empty during our stay.
- Outdoor pool: Shared with residents of the building, it’s spacious and clean. Closed daily from 12–1 p.m. for maintenance.
- Regency Club Lounge: Located on the 23rd floor with great natural light. You’ll find people working during the day, and it’s a great place to cool down with a Coke or get a quick bite.
Food
You have several dining options on-site:
- Regency Club: Offers a solid breakfast with congee, dim sum, eggs, bacon, and pastries. Evening service includes hot food, salad bar, cheese, and desserts, plus self-serve wine, spirits, and beer.
- The Café: Their main buffet restaurant. Better to go on weekends when the selection is stronger. Breakfast buffet has a wide range of cuisines—Western, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese—but quality is hit-or-miss.
- Hugo’s: A European-style steakhouse with a vintage feel.
- The Chinese Restaurant: Focuses on Cantonese cuisine.
- Chin Chin Bar: A stylish whisky and gin lounge with dark wood decor and vintage Chinese elements.
Other Tips
Explore Local Eats:
- Australia Dairy Company: Classic HK-style café with fluffy scrambled eggs, macaroni, toast, and milk tea. Fast, cheap, and iconic. Expect to share tables.
- Mak’s Noodles: Great wonton and beef brisket noodles, including dry options.
- Tim Ho Wan (TST): Michelin-recommended dim sum. Must-tries: baked BBQ pork buns, veggie dumplings, wok-fried chives.
Shopping: K11 Art Mall is directly connected and has everything from streetwear to luxury goods. Also convenient for grabbing water or snacks from 7-Eleven.
Fireworks & Holidays: Prices spike around Christmas and special events. If rates go over $300–$400 USD per night, consider redeeming World of Hyatt points instead.
Summary
Hyatt Regency TST continues to be a strong choice whether it’s your first visit or your tenth. The location is unbeatable for exploring both sides of Hong Kong. You get fast MTR access, a dependable lounge, and good value if you have Hyatt status.
It’s not the most luxurious property, but it punches above its weight with practical perks and walkable access to iconic food and views. If prices are reasonable, it's worth paying cash. If not, use points or check nearby options like The Langham. Either way, this one's a keeper.
