Location

The Andaz Tokyo is located within the Toranomon Hills district, primarily a business-focused area. It offers modern convenience with nearby shopping and dining options. However, it's slightly removed from major tourist neighborhoods, making it less ideal for first-time visitors.

Arrival

Check-in was seamless, and staff members were welcoming and friendly. Despite attempting to use a suite upgrade certificate as a Hyatt Globalist, standard suites were fully booked, resulting in a King Room with a Tokyo Tower view.

We were offered welcome drinks, and the check-in process took place in the lounge.

Elite Benefits

As a Hyatt Globalist, complimentary breakfast was provided, though the desired suite upgrade was unavailable due to occupancy. Other benefits included free non-alcoholic beverages from the minibar and access to the evening happy hour (available to all guests!).

Room

The King Room featured modern, origami-inspired design with strong wood and white color tones. The Tokyo Tower view was exceptional, though limited late at night as the tower's lights are turned off around midnight. Amenities included an oversized couch, a large walk-in bathroom stocked with Aesop products, a Dyson hairdryer, and high-quality wooden fixtures throughout.

Property

The overall property is beautifully maintained with an emphasis on art and design, notably featuring pieces by renowned wood artisan George Nakashima. Facilities include a modern gym, indoor pool, hot tub, carbonated spa, and comprehensive locker room amenities like massage chairs, sauna, steam room, and cold plunge pool.

Food

The hotel's breakfast featured high-quality, in-house baked pastries, excellent eggs, fresh fruits, and a range of both Japanese and Western options. The evening happy hour provided complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages, including wine, sake, and soft drinks. The rooftop bar offered premium cocktails with spectacular city views, though at a significant cost. Dining at the hotel itself was pricey, with better local dining alternatives available nearby.

Other Tips

  • Don't miss the complimentary happy hour in the lobby from 6 PM to 8 PM.
  • Consider visiting nearby Ginza for a wider array of dining and shopping options.
  • The amenities on the 37th floor, particularly the spa and fitness facilities, are highly recommended.

Summary

Overall, Andaz Tokyo delivers an outstanding experience characterized by excellent service, beautifully designed spaces, and top-notch amenities. Its location in Toranomon Hills is slightly less convenient for tourists focused on exploring Tokyo's main sights, making it best suited for repeat visitors or those who prioritize a luxurious, culturally-infused retreat over immediate proximity to major attractions.
